23/07/2021 by S.N.Strutt
Here is a quote from before BREXIT and COVID: 'There is a shortage of 76,000 HGV drivers in the UK, according to a report from ITV in 2020. This figure had grown from 59,000 in 2019 - showing the ever-growing demand for qualified truck drivers, who are desperately needed to keep goods moving across the UK and Europe.'SNAP | SNAP (snapacc.com)

STEVE: I have been hearing from different sources over the past 24 hours, that the UK is in big trouble, partly due to BREXIT and partly due to the COVID-19 LOCKDOWNS.
I also heard that there is now a shortage of 100,000+ truck drivers in the UK, due both to BREXIT and to Covid-19 restictions, over the past one and half years.
My daughter told me in coming home today, from working at a Care-Home here in Scotland, that frozen-food deliveries to the Care-Home have been down. Coincidence?
Personally, a week ago we ordered 6 different products from Amazon, and we are just told today that the package was sent back, due to inability to deliver the package. This has never happened before. There is a large Amazon Warehouse store close to us, but in checking what we ordered one week ago, our order this time was to be sent up from London? Another conincidence?
London apparently is where the distibution problem has started.
I just checked the local grocery store, and talked to a worker friend, who told me that, yes, deliveries have been on the demise for the past 3 weeks. Yet another con-incidence?
Will this trucking crisis turn into a FOOD CRISIS? - only time will tell.
